Suncatchers
About Shore Things Suncatchers
These one of a kind suncatchers are hand-made in Sunset Beach NC by published artisan Shelly McQueen. (Visit About The Artist for publications listings.)

Shelly’s sense of humor becomes obvious when you spot an added surprise of what she has coined as her “pooping sea-turtles”. These colorful Murano glass sea turtles leave a sparkling trail of Swarovski crystal poops, the cutest poops you’ll ever see! Important to know is that the poops will range in colors depending on what they ate! (e.g. the little turtle above just ate lobster)…
The Four Basics
Antique wooden mill spools from the American industrial era.
Asfour French cut crystals are made in Egypt and make bold and colorful rainbows with sunlight. Note that each crystal has the Asfour logo of the Dove in flight perfectly micro-etched at the very tip of the stems.
Hand-picked driftwood comes from as far as Hawaii, and from the local shores of North and South Carolina.
Copper jointing throughout is chosen due to the beautiful blue-green patina it acquires over time.
They Vary from Here
From this point each piece will vary in elements with all sorts of lovely beach finds as well as fine elements like Swarovski crystals and rhinestones, fine ribbons and vintage fabrics, unique hand-curated miniatures, and local tree moss. The possibilities are endless!
Most pieces have mini-LED lights emphasizing certain features. The placement of each bulb is a painstaking process, and the result is well worth it. Once you’ve enjoyed the crystal light display by day, turn on the driftwood lights and the ambiance in the evening is an added delight.
Lights are battery operated, mounted on the back and replaceable.
All suncatchers have three coats of weather resistant varnish on them. However, it is recommended that if not hung indoors that they be hung on a covered porch, patio, or deck. Take indoors in high winds!
